Arcadia was originally founded in the early 1900s and since the 1920’s and 30’s it has been promoted as a community for affluent people looking for a rural real estate atmosphere. In the early 1920s, an irrigation system was placed 15 miles from the canal. This irrigation system allowed for citrus groves to grow and, in turn grew the demand for the Arcadia area. The architectural character of the homes in Arcadia has been a statement of the neighborhood since the community was created.

Now Arcadia is home to resorts such as the Phoenician and Royal Palms and the Verizon 5G Performance Center, the newest practice facility for the Phoenix Suns. It is a desirable area for its proximity to neighboring communities, downtown Phoenix and Sky Harbor Airport as well as its vibrant food culture. If you have a chance, make a trip to La Grande Orange Grocery and Pizzeria for the quintessential feel of the hood.

Arcadia has been divided into three distinct neighborhoods. Arcadia Proper, Arcadia Lite and Lower Arcadia.

Arcadia Proper is  outlined as the North boundary starting at Camelback Road (although some will argue that the boundary is the base of Camelback Mountain). It travels from 44th street to 68th street where Phoenix turns into Scottsdale at Jojake Rd/Phoenician Blvd.  The southern border is the canal which mostly runs along Indian School Road.

Arcadia Proper is known for its large sprawling estates and continues to be sought after by the most affluent.
